Here’s another music history lesson with your host, DJM.
After buying the Cool World soundtrack in 1992, and being disappointed with the cut version of Play With Me, I also learned about other great musicians, such as Thrill Kill Kult, FSOL (Future Sound of London), and last but not least, the great Moby. I was so much in love with the songs that Moby did on the Cool World soundtrack, that I bought his self-titled album, Moby. With such hits as Drop a Beat, Have You Seen My Baby, Ah-Ah, Next Is the E, Electricity, and of course, Go.
Now, I KNEW about Twin Peaks on ABC at the time, but I didn’t think anything of it, just another live-action drama piece of crap. But when I noticed that one of my favorite songs from my new Moby album contained samples from Twin Peaks, I just had to figure out why my new favorite musician sampled from that show. I was pleasantly surprised to see the actor from Dune in it (Kyle MacLachlan), only to find out Twin Peaks was created, written and directed by the same guy, David Lynch.
For a show on regular cable TV, I was happily shocked that such a twisted and awesome show was on regular television. And it’s all thanks to Moby that got me hooked on this demented and wonderful series.
Thanks Moby…thanks… :’>
thanks for reminding me I need to finish watching twin peaks AND listen to moby’s most recent album
